Job Description

Position Title: Substance Use Disorders - SUD Counselor (Alcohol Drug Trainee - ADT, Certified Associate Counselor - Alcohol and Drug - CAC-AD)

The following statements reflect the general duties and responsibilities considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job and should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements of the position. The specific job duties may be changed by The Jude House with or without prior notice based on the needs of the organization.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR POSITION TITLE: Clinical Supervisor

SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Counselor/(in-training) will be responsible for executing all duties on a professional level and works closely with the Clients. This position carries out responsibilities in the following areas: implement applicable treatment protocols, residential support/rehabilitation, emergency plans/safety practices, health service policies and procedures with assigned chemically dependent clients in accordance with requirements of the Maryland Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and Therapists. The Counselor/(in-training) is responsible to complete the clinical charts adhering to compliance which includes notes, progress reports, monthly reports, SMART plans, individual, family therapy, aftercare and the over-all clinical make-up of orientation, group, individual, small groups, staff development, training and maintaining program Licensure. Familiarity with CARF standards and EMR (KIPU) helpful. All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the position, the candidate must Maintain current Licensure of Certification as ADT, CAC-AD, CSC, or advanced license in counseling, social work, or psychology with relevant licensure to provide substance abuse/dependence service delivery acceptable to Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. Appropriate course work as required by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and Therapists for the designation counselor and registry with the Board.

LICENSURE: CAC- AD; CPR; Valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance required.

CONDITIONS: The new hire or transfer Counselor/ (in-training) will observe a ninety (90) day introductory period. With a satisfactory criteria-based performance evaluation, the Counselor/(in-training) will advance to a regular employee status. If the evaluation is not satisfactory, the Counselor/ (in-training) may be terminated.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Proficient in MS Office

. Familiar with EMR KIPU (or similar electronic records)

· Has experience dealing with high volume demands;

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

· Strong organizational and planning skills;

· Ability to understand rehabilitation process for persons with chemical dependencies and criminal backgrounds.

· Considered a Subject Matter Expert in areas of 12-Step Recovery Process, Outreach/Case Management Topics, Peer Support Program Guidelines and Documentation

· Be a good role model through actions, demeanor and appearance

· Has experience dealing with addicts in rehabilitation (preferred but not mandatory)

· Possess organizational skills

· Experience with facilitating information to groups of 100 or less.

· Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work;

· Ability to utilize the Decision-Making Process.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with employees, clients, and outside agencies required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts in the preparation of reports and data is required.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to prioritize and meet established deadlines; demonstrate proper professional judgment and discretion as well as an ability to exercise a “sense of the appropriate” required. Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts regarding employee issues and to prioritize the needs of the client(s) and organization.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Will work in a clean, well-lighted office environment. The job requires sitting approximately 80% of the time and walking or standing approximately 20% of the time. It requires lifting and carrying documents weighing up to 20lbs approximately 10% of the time and requires occasional bending and reaching. Occasional travel may be required via ground transportation.
