Your Career Path:

The Medical Assistant will begin their career working in the ambulatory settings of JPCHC. With robust training and mentoring, this professional will pursue certification in the exciting field of Medical Assisting within three (3) months of hire. JPCHC will provide the support and resources for the Medical Assistant to successfully transition to a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant role. Once the professional completes certification, he/she will receive a promotion and retention bonus. We look forward to assisting you in your growing career.

Job Summary: Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant (MA) is essential within The Jane Pauley Community Health Center (JPCHC). The Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for direct patient care in the ambulatory clinics of JPCHC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Properly prepares exam rooms for patient care by ensuring the room is properly stocked and cleaned.
  • Rooms patients, checks vital signs, and assesses patient needs to communicate with provider.
  • Communicates the need for injections and vaccines for adults and pediatric patients based on provider order to appropriately licensed team member for execution.
  • Assists provider with patient procedures as directed by the provider.
  • Communicates effectively both written and orally with patients, patients’ families, coworkers, and other outside entities.
  • Completes routine forms for patients as appropriate.
  • Ensures chart documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) is correctly completed in timely manner.
  • Performs lab tests as directed by provider, prepares specimens, operates lab equipment, and maintains laboratory documentation in accordance with CLIA standards and practice specific protocols.
  • Schedules offsite diagnostic tests and communicates effectively with patients.
  • Takes manual inventory of drugs.
  • Adheres to all JPCHC policies and procedures.

Education and/or Experience

  • Graduate from accredited Medical Assisting program
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider (BLS)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 6 months to 1-year minimum experience in an ambulatory or inpatient setting, preferred.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant Certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Computer literate
