About Us:

The Ivy School is a small public Montessori charter school dedicated to providing a nurturing and holistic education to children PK-8th grade. Our commitment to excellence in education extends beyond our Montessori programs, and we are currently seeking a passionate and experienced K-3 Reading Tutor to join our team and inspire young learners on their reading journey.

Position Overview:

As a Part-Time K-3 Reading Tutor at The Ivy School, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing a love for reading among our K-3 students. You will work closely with individual or small groups of students, providing personalized reading instruction that aligns with Montessori principles and educational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-on-one or small group reading sessions with K-3 students.
  • Assess each student's reading level and tailor instruction accordingly.
  • Develop and implement personalized lesson plans to improve reading skills.
  • Foster a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Track student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align tutoring with classroom curriculum.
  • Provide regular feedback to administrators and teachers regarding student progress.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Montessori certification is a plus).
  • Proven experience in teaching or tutoring K-3 students in reading.
  • Knowledge of Montessori education principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young learners.
  • Ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans.
  • Commitment to fostering a love for reading in young children.

Schedule:

  • Part-Time (approximately 10-15 hours per week)
  • Flexible scheduling options available.
