The Institute for Health and Recovery is Hiring a Remote Finance Manager

Job Title: Finance Manager
Program/Department: Finance
Position Type: Full-Time 40 hours/ week – Hybrid Position (remote and on-site)
Location: Watertown
Reports to: Director of Finance & Controller
The Institute for Health and Recovery (IHR) is a statewide service, research, policy, program development and capacity building agency. IHR designs its services based on an understanding of the impact of trauma. IHR’s CARF accredited treatment programs provide holistic interventions for hard to reach and high-risk individuals and families. IHR’s mission, since our founding in 1989, has been to develop and support a comprehensive continuum of care for families, individuals, youth, and pregnant and parenting people affected by alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, violence/trauma, mental health challenges and other health issues, while advancing principles of health equity and social justice. Our work is focused on addressing and eradicating inequities in our health care, economic, and justice systems, especially as they disproportionately affect women and people of color. We are committed to providing services and creating communities that mitigate the effects of substance use, mental illness, and trauma.
Summary Statement : The Finance Manager Plans and directs accounting activities within the Finance department by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate supervisees.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee all billing procedures related to clinical services, ensuring precision and effectiveness using the Enterprise Invoice Management/Enterprise Service Management (EIM/ESM) state contract billing system.
  • Oversee accounts payable and execute check processing.
  • Annual processing of 1099 and 1096 forms.
  • Coordinate account reconciliations and allocations.
  • Perform data entry tasks.
  • Provide support during audit processes.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate handling of accounting transactions.
  • Offer general assistance to the Director of Finance.
  • Identify, compile, and distribute cash receipts register to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain communication with IHR's main office in Watertown by utilizing shared online calendars, time sheets, and supervisor check-ins/check-outs.
  • Participate in team and agency staff meetings.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
    • 5 years of Bookkeeping experience.
    • DPH EIM billing experience preferred.
    • Experience with accounting (Peachtree/Sage) and expertise in spreadsheet (Excel) software
    • Experience with the state (EIM/ESM) state contract billing system.
    • Outstanding Attention to detail and good organizational skills
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently.

    • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal stakeholders.
