PORTIA BELL HUME BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND TRAINING CENTER (aka The Hume Center) has a rewarding opportunity for a qualified Medical Assistant/Clinic Operations Assistant under the leadership of The Hume Center’s Clinic Support Supervisor. This is an exciting opportunity to work with behavioral health providers in serving our community. This position is needed to help our organization by supportingthe growth of this department.MISSION: The Hume Center strives to create an environment of psychological well-being both internally for our work community and externally for the community we serve, with special consideration for the under- and un-served, through practicing an enabling consultation process. We believe in serving our community through strengthening existing and developing new resources; providing the highest caliber of culturally sensitive behavioral health services, professional training, and clinical research; and focusing on consistent improvement through outcomes, data-based quality assurance, and program evaluation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS1. Preferred Medical Assistant certification with an Associate’s degree and/or Bachelor’s degree2. 3 years in a previous related administrative support role.3. Demonstrate flexibility to handle organizational needs.4. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google applications (i.e., scheduler, Googledocs), insurance eligibility application.5. Possess a valid California Driver’s license. Must be willing to use own vehicle and valid car6. Insurance for work related travel.7. Be willing to use own cell phone to be accessible and willing to be available to receive calls for crisis and/or emergency situations with supervisors and relevant colleagues.

JOB RESPONSIBITILIES1. Supports clinical staff with day to day operations2. Interact with clients by assisting them with appointments and directing communications.3. Assist staff with scheduling clients and maintaining their caseloads.
4. Input and organize data/documents into our Electronic Health Record system and county systems.5. Review medical records requests and prepare documentation in collaboration with clinicians.6. Manage referral requests and maintains our wait list.7. Storing, uploading, and organizing clinical documentation according to program and department protocols.8. Collaborates with clinic staff on clinic improvement projects as needed9. Meets weekly with their Supervisor to review weekly tasks and responsibilities.10. Greets clients and visitors in a warm and respectful manner11. Responsible for ensuring the office is opened and closed by the designated business hours each day.12. Maintains and organizes the waiting room area, kitchen, restroom and any common work area.13. Coordinates clinic room assignments for staff14. Provides a positive and safe working environment15. Identifies and orders office supplies. May be asked to run errands using their vehicle.16. Collect any co-payments, deductibles, cash and credit card payments, when applicable17. Completes billing preparation and runs reports and insurance eligibility18. Tracks entry of all people who enter the clinic through a sign-in sheet. Assists with evacuation drills and procedures.19. Handle emergency situations as the designated point person to coordinate execution such as earthquakes, electrical outages, fire, safety,20. Provide substitution for office support when needed at other office locations21. Joins peers in staff meetings and Hume events
