The Heritage Community is Hiring a Remote SHIFT LEAD | Homestead ($20/hr)

Spark Homestead is a standalone residential treatment program specializing in autism, located in Payson, Utah. It is tailored to be an all-girls environment, for teens in 9th – 12th grades, helping neurodiverse females to gain self-identity, confidence, and resilience! Besides treatment, we provide a full curriculum, year-round school as part of helping our students discover a love of learning and confidence in their education. We are accredited by the Utah State Board of Education as a special education school, and utilize instructional pedagogy that is centered on project-based learning.

We currently seek to hire a Shift Lead position. A Shift Lead is an assistant to the Home Manager. The incumbent is responsible to manage their assigned shift, train and direct personnel on their team, oversee the supervision of students, and assure a caregiving environment is upheld. We will hire a candidate who demonstrates leadership skills, who can be attuned to the needs of others, and shows passion and vision to excel!

Schedule:
  • Full-time
  • All Shift Leads are asked to work one extra shift on their assigned Home beyond the regular schedule, to associate with other personnel on the Home, to engage and learn aspects of other shifts, etc. for leadership duties.
  • All Shift Leads are required to attend a weekly Treatment Team meeting, as well as other meetings throughout the work week.
  • This position includes a Sunday rotation.
  • Team 4: TTHS, 2:30 - 10 PM, one Sunday every 4 weeks
Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Aptitude of adolescent development.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully coach and mentor adolescents.
  • Basic understanding and competency of neurodiversity and other mental health diagnoses. Must also show assertiveness to improve knowledge and competency for efficient job performance.
  • Management and leadership skills — using passion and vision to teach and steward both students and employees.
  • Excellence in innovation and executing plans, knowing how to be attuned to the people and business you serve to weave culture and results.
  • Good energy, with ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Engaging and empathetic character, with the balance of tenacity and determination.
  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal-relationship skills.
  • Good computer knowledge and professional writing skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop close, personal, and emotionally supportive relationships with the students on your home, coaching them in their treatment progression.
  • Be a leader and an example to reliably intercede and successfully mediate any conflicts at hand, or any time a student needs further support and guidance.
  • Implement clinical treatment plans as outlined by the Treatment Team, and assure team members also understand expectations.
  • Participate in a wide variety of activities with the students, encouraging and supporting them to develop the skills associated with the tasks (i.e., sports, bike riding, rock climbing, hiking, swimming, leisure activities, and hobbies, etc.).
  • Serve as an assistant to the Home Manager in leadership duties. This includes but is not limited to, training Coaches on your team, handling operational components of assigned shifts, assuring Spark Academy program components are consistent, and that treatment care objectives are applied in a true, high-quality manner.
  • Consistently touch base with team members, for performance tracking and development, reporting any necessary updates to the Home Manager.
  • Attend weekly Treatment Team meetings, coming prepared to report on the therapeutic progress of the students. Work collaboratively with clinical Therapists and other Treatment Team members to develop strategic goals and objectives for each student.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 6-months' relevant experience working in residential treatment required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older to apply.
  • Physical ability to provide interventions, such as safety holds.
  • A valid Driver’s License, and no more than one traffic violation on a driving record in the past three years to be approved to transport students using company vehicles.
  • Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
