The Heritage Community is Hiring a CTE TEACHER | Spark Academy Near Provo, UT

Spark Academy is a co-ed, residential treatment program for adolescents, specializing in neurodiversity. We provide a full curriculum, year-round education experience as part of helping our students discover a love of learning and confidence in their education. We are accredited by the Utah State Board of Education as a special education school, maintaining a 1:12 classroom ratio so that our Teachers can have the individualized and personal focus our students need!

We currently seek to hire aCTE Teacherto work within our Spark Academy School. We utilize instructional pedagogy that is centered on project-based learning. Thus, we look for a candidate who exemplifies innovation and resourcefulness, to help our students engage with their peers and utilize higher-level thinking skills when working through their projects.

Schedule:

Exempt. Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
Our academic calendar and contracts are YEAR-ROUND, with two-week breaks in between each term.
The incumbent is intended to start as soon as possible.

Knowledge and Abilities:

Understanding of adolescent development, with competence in instructional pedagogy for the adolescent population.
Aptitude of special education, particularly methods to successfully teach students on the high-functioning Autism Spectrum or who demonstrate other neurodiverse behaviors or diagnoses.
Awareness and understanding of Project-Based Learning, or a willingness to learn and grow within this instructional pedagogy.
Teaching skills that are engaging and edifying, while balanced with diligence and tenacity.
Excellent organization skills to provide a physical and academic structure conducive to learning.
Even temperament, with ability to mediate situations calmly when students need support due to escalation or frustration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Design and teach lesson plans in assigned subject of CTE, with clearly defined goals and objectives.
Educate students, ages 13 to 18, with various academic levels and special needs.
Frequently communicate and work with the Academic Advisors to receive updates regarding IEP goals for each student assigned to your classroom.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development, submitting grade reports to Academic Advisors on time.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education, or specific field of study to teach CTE.
Current Utah Educator license.
SPED endorsement a plus!
Must be at least 20 years of age or older to apply.
Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
