At the heart of our organization, the Business Development Specialist holds a pivotal and multifaceted role, integral to ensuring both client satisfaction and the efficient operation of our services. This dynamic position requires a unique blend of skills, combining customer relationship management, facility oversight, and a sharp business acumen. The primary mission is to foster robust and enduring client relationships characterized by exceptional service, proactively addressing client needs, and identifying strategic opportunities for revenue growth.
WORK HOURS
This role is required to work a minimum of 50 hours per week. They must be able to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs. Scheduling will include nights and weekends depending on events and functions. Travel will be required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct monthly on-site visits to client facilities to assess their satisfaction levels and gather feedback.
2. Perform thorough facility check-ins, ensuring that all client needs and expectations are met.
3. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by providing exceptional customer service and addressing their concerns and inquiries.
4. Prepare detailed reports summarizing client feedback, highlighting areas of improvement, and suggesting appropriate solutions to enhance client experiences.
5. Collaborate with internal teams, including sales and operations, to implement strategies and solutions that drive client retention and satisfaction.
6. Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities during client interactions and leverage your sales background to maximize revenue generation.
7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitive landscape, and client preferences to provide valuable insights and recommendations.
8. Act as a liaison between clients and internal departments, ensuring effective communication and prompt resolution of any issues or challenges.
9. Develop and deliver training programs and materials to educate clients on product features, benefits, and best practices.
10. Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to represent the company and foster new client relationships.
11. Administrative Duties:
•Attend daily sales weekly staff meetings, sales meetings, and department meetings, as requested.
•Complete mileage report monthly and submit to Accounting by 1st of each month
•Complete all training and continued education as requested.
•Follow the supervisor's instructions and complete all other duties as assigned.
Combined efforts with the Sales Operations Department and Nutrition Coordinators to ensure the following:
Client Satisfaction
•Responsiveness is key. Respond promptly to client requests and inquiries, offering friendly and professional assistance.
•Follow up to guarantee guest satisfaction, going the extra mile to ensure an exceptional experience.
Menu Planning Assistance
•Collaborate with clients to plan menus based on established parameters, team preferences, and client needs.
•Ensure that menu choices align with the expectations of team representatives and cater to the client's requirements.
•Implement proper food safety and sanitation procedures at home facilities and on the road.
•When applicable, assist Chefs with implementing menus based on nutrition guidelines created for the minor league complexes and affiliates.
Pre-Planning Logistics
•Comprehend, engage in, and effectively communicate pre-planning logistics, including vendor coordination, sourcing products, travel timelines, and billing accuracy.
•Prepare and maintain detailed Banquet Event Orders promptly to guide the culinary team and clients. Include all necessary details such as menu selections, event timelines, and setup requirements.
•Establish a direct point of contact for each vendor to streamline communication.
•Regularly follow up to ensure that everything is on track.
•Identify and engage with reliable vendors well in advance.
Facility Coordination and Oversight
•Manage the facility needs of Minor League teams as requested.
•Ensure that facilities are optimized for the teams' food service and safety requirements.
•Address any maintenance or safety concerns promptly to clients.
Budget and Expense Management
•Assist in managing the budget for assigned services.
•Ensure that expenses align with the budget while maintaining high-quality service.
•Maintain records of travel and facility-related expenses, contracts, and performance metrics.
•Prepare regular reports on budget performance and service quality for management.
Vendor and Supplier Relationships
•Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers to meet travel and facility needs.
•Negotiate contracts, service agreements, and rates to secure favorable terms.
Client Communication and Support
•Act as a primary point of contact for clients teams.
•Provide excellent customer service and support to address specific travel and facility-related inquiries and concerns.
Risk Management
•Anticipate potential challenges and develop contingency plans.
•Identify backup vendors and have alternative arrangements in place.
•Identify potential risks associated with vendor relationships, sales, and travel logistics.
•Develop strategies to mitigate these risks and establish contingency plans.
•Communicate contingency plans to the team.
Team Collaboration
•Maintain positive working relationships with all managers, the sales team, and fellow staff members.
•Lead by example, upholding professionalism and promoting a respectful, team-oriented work environment at all times
Research and Development
•Contribute to research and development projects aimed at expanding our national vendor network, as requested.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, hospitality management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
2. Proven experience in client retention, account management, or sales, with a track record of achieving targets and delivering exceptional customer service.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
4. Exceptional hospitality skills and a genuine passion for providing outstanding customer experiences.
5. Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify areas of improvement and suggest effective solutions.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare comprehensive reports and present findings to stakeholders.
7. Willingness to travel frequently to client sites, requiring overnight stays.
8. Proficiency in using Hubspot and other relevant tools to manage client relationships and track performance.
9. Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
10. Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
