Position Overview: Manages the execution of strategic and operational initiatives across the Specialty lines organization to ensure we make progress on our strategy. Engages with business leadership team to identify strategic opportunities and acts as a trusted advisor for planning and executing key initiatives. Collaborates and partners with cross-functional stakeholders in an inclusive team environment to facilitate transparency and joint accountability. Facilitates strategic working sessions and meetings; organizes and tracks action items for future follow-up. Actively manages initiative scope, tasks, resources, and timelines to drive implementation of key priorities in an engaged, timely, effective, and collaborative manner. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:Works with business leadership team to identify strategic priorities, shape the scope of work and execution approach, execute tactical plans, and manage the impact through continuous monitoring/feedback. Provides consultation on the assessment, design, and development of Specialty lines propositions and initiatives. Serves as a trusted advisor to the business unit heads and proposition/initiative leadersConsults with leadership team, providing thought partnership, on business strategy to shape plans for execution; define goals, scope, tasks, timelines and required resources for implementingManage key initiatives and projects, including managing and/or mitigating project risks/ issues and dependenciesIdentify, coordinate, and collaborate cross-functional stakeholders to outline scope and deliverables of key initiatives and projects; works closely with Operations, Product, Actuarial, Finance, Technology, and other functional areas to drive implementation of strategic prioritiesManages overall progress of strategic initiatives from inception through delivery, using task plans, timelines and regular touchpoints while driving collaboration and accountability of team membersSchedule, plan and facilitate key meetings; give direction on appropriate topics for meetings, prepare agendas, minutes, organize follow-ups and track action plansCreate and deliver timely initiative/project status updates Competencies… The Specialty Strategy Manager will possess the following professional competencies… Inclusive Decision Making: Ability to consider stakeholder input, apply judgement and insight to produce timely and prudent decisionsTalent Developer: Ability to provide continuous coaching and feedback while holding self and others accountable for resultsAgile Innovator: Ability to continually adapt and take smart courageous risks to turn disruptions into opportunityComposed Change Agent: Ability to engage and inspire through vison, lead with courage and composure.Enterprise Integrator: Ability to balance functional depth with cross-unit and external awareness to maximize value for The Hanover WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: Ability to effectively influence without full authority at various levels of the organization across the BU and shared services teamsExhibits strong communication skills; ability to effectively engage and communicate with leadershipSelf-starter mentality; proactively takes on new tasks/responsibilities; results-orientedNatural leader with consultative approach to partner engagement; comfort in leading others and self through ambiguity to achieve goalsExceptional project management skill set with ability and interest to strengthen/grow strategy skill setStrong technical acumen/proficiency preferred Ability to effectively manage multiple competing prioritiesStrong problem solver: ability to look at the holistic situation, see new options and connect the dots where appropriateThirst to learnStrong attention to detail; experience with process and data analysisAbility to anticipate and identify risks and effectively mitigate and/or manage as neededAbility to drive collaboration and inclusive team environmentsAbility to manage conflict resolutionEffective change management Experience… Typically requires 5 -10 years of strategic priority management experienceBachelor's degree in related field, specialized training, or equivalent work experienceProject management certification or successful completion of a recognized project management curriculum preferredExperience in managing complex change initiativesExperience working in the Financial Services industry preferred
