The Hamlin School is Hiring a Librarian (2024-2025) Near San Francisco, CA

Requirements: Master’s Degree in Library Science or equivalent

Reports to: Director of Program and Professional Development

Primary Responsibilities: Serve as a reference librarian, teaches K-4 library classes, leads digital citizenship education in K-8, works to create responsible consumers of media in its various forms, and collaborates with teachers in developing and delivering research skills.

Hours/Classification: Full-Time, Exempt

Salary Range: $75,000-$110,000 Annually (Salaries are based on years of experience)

Support the faculty, staff, parents, and students with the following specific roles and responsibilities:

  • Serves as a reference librarian
  • Creates and teaches/co-teaches lessons and experiences related to information and digital literacy and digital citizenship in K-4 [bi-monthly]
  • Teaches database usage, research skills, and other related subjects in K-8
  • Collaborates with faculty to teach students research skills
  • Promotes information literacy by offering workshops, courses, tutorials and training sessions that promote appropriate technology tools to enhance instruction
  • Organizes parent volunteers for the library
  • Has a passion for consuming, sharing, and creating content in all different forms— books, podcasts, articles, etc.—and be able to model this excitement for our students and our faculty
  • Maintains updated HamliNet library page for each LS class and a resource page for digital resources
  • Continues to curate a wide collection of materials that reflect the rich diversity of our world and school
  • Coordinates Summer Reading and Visiting Authors & Illustrator Programs 
  • Is an active member of the middle school Social Studies department and a leader in supporting their research projects
  • Implements curricula as identified in the Curriculum Guide 
  • Teaches with an understanding of the development and growth of Middle School girls 
  • Communicates and collaborates with other faculty and staff regarding each student 
  • Assesses student progress using a variety of methods and communicate with homeroom teachers about the program and student progress
  • Attends grade level meetings for collaborative discussion and sharing of student concerns
  • Identifies materials, resources, and technology needs for program
  • Includes use of appropriate technology tools and resources for instruction
  • Participates in faculty, division, department, and advisory team meetings, and admissions/school events
  • Pursues relevant opportunities for professional growth and development 
  • Other duties and/or teaching responsibilities as needed
