The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center for Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas.   • Planned in office time from 9:30am-6:00pm. Flexibility required during office hours and based on client need. 40 hours per week required.
  • Salary range of $162,720 -$167,720

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Responsibilities

1. Provide initial assessments and treatment planning for clients of TGC. The primary focus of work will be with adults. Some child work will be expected as well as coverage for clients of other prescribing staff. 

2. Participate in a team approach for treatment planning and provision, for those clients seen by multiple providers at TGC

3. Provide education to clients on symptoms, medication effects and side effects

4. Coordinate services with other community providers when necessary

5. Provide injections to specific clients as prescribed

6. Provide consultation to other TGC providers to assist in crisis intervention

7. Ensure that all clinical services provided are following clinical guidelines of The Guidance Center and regulatory bodies

Qualifications for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:

1. Registered nurse with Baccalaureate and master’s degrees in nursing.

2. Licensed by the Kansas State Nursing Board as a Nurse Practitioner.

3. Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or as an Adult Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurse Credentialing Center

4. Specialty in psychiatric nursing

EXPERIENCE:

Required: completion of practicum during master’s program in a psychiatric setting with training in diagnosis, prescribing, and following patient care.

Preferred: two years’ experience in treating patients in an outpatient clinical setting
