Safety Manager

Job Summary: This position will assist with developing, implementing, and enforcing Safety policies and procedures to maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and promote a Safe work environment for our employees. This position requires a mix of industry specific knowledge and common sense understanding of Safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the development and implementation of Safety policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry best practices.
• Inspects the facilities and job sites to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
• Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections. Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
• Investigate accidents, collisions, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Assist with WC & Auto claims and help with injured employees.
• Maintain accurate records of Safety related incidents, training, and inspections.
• Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of Safety Awareness and Accountability.
• Stay informed about changes in Safety regulations and industry trends and adjust policies and procedures accordingly.
• Monitors compliance with safety procedures.

• Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/ Abilities :

• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant Safety Standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent problem solving skills, attention to detail, with the ability to effectively train and influence employees at all levels of The Greenery.
• Safety Mgt involves data analysis, communication, and the use of various software tools. The qualified individual must have essential computer skills.
• Bi lingual (E/S) preferred. Ability to operate a truck and pull a trailer with equipment.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• This position requires travel and overnight stays to branches, various job sites, and training locations.
• The work schedule is generally Monday Friday from 7:00 AM 4:00 PM and may include some weekend work

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field desirable.

Five years of related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Work outside in the elements of nature (heat and humidity of the summer, cold and rain of the winter).
• Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to lift/carry heavy objects (i.e., 50 lbs.).
