The Goodman Group is Hiring a National Director of Payer Contracting Near Chaska, MN

The Goodman Group is expanding their Financial Team with the addition of a newly established role of the National Director of Payer Contracting. This individual will be reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, and is responsible for collaborating with payers to negotiate pricing terms, and manage ongoing revenue opportunities in the long-term healthcare space. Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for managing & negotiating payer contracts, to include the assessment (with legal and financial implications) of all contracting opportunities, including new contacts, contractual amendments and assignments to existing contracts.
  • Responsible for developing a companywide strategy on improving revenue by individual healthcare community, including new opportunities in revenue creation. Makes strategic recommendations based on assessment of market opportunities.
  • Provide oversight to insure contractual deliverables and service levels are met on all community contracts. Negotiate as appropriate with managed care and insurance clients for favorable operating rates. Monitor contract performance and help develop tactics for remediation of under-performing contracts.
  • Reinforce our position as the national healthcare and information leader in the industry.. Establish, build and maintain positive, professional relationships at all decision levels within managed care arena.
  • Responsible for managing contract development process to include opportunities in value based and shared/full risk payment programs. Demonstrate value-added solutions in negotiating managed and insurance healthcare contracts. Manage difficult strategic issues with Payer Contracting.
  • Work in conjunction with the Regional Managers and National Directors of Operations for improved revenue strategies. Provide field input for service enhancement and new service strategy. Keep management and the sales team apprised of competitive activity within region.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop financial analytics, financial impact scenarios and profitability metrics as a key element in the contract proposal process.
  • Manage cross functional work-streams across a variety of teams (Legal, Finance, Revenue Cycle Management, and other teams), including the primary duty of Payer Contracting, Performance Management, and Analytics
  • Ability to personally gain access to key payer decision makers for targets in geography of responsibility
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate College degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of experience in insurance contracting and financial negotiation
  • 2 years of experience working in long-term care
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience in the Insurance and Managed Care market
  • Consultative sales experience calling on all levels within a managed care organization
  • Ability to facilitate change management and effective stakeholder communication
  • Demonstrate strong financial, analytical, and contracting acumen
  • Ability to increase productivity, plan penetration, and collaboration with all ACO’s. Successfully manage new and existing managed care contracts
  • Proficient in MS Office - Excel (creating spreadsheets) and PowerPoint (creating sales presentations)
  • Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to build strong and positive business relationships, motivate in a team setting and exhibit strong time management, organizational and research skills
  • Must be able to travel 40% within assigned territory

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate level degree 5 years, successful account management or sales experience in the long-term healthcare industry specializing in Managed Care
