About The Position
The Clinical Research Coordinator provides assistance to the Principal Investigator and Study Team coordinating research activities that may include recruiting participants, data collection and management and other research activities as assigned. The Clinical Research Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and conducting baseline concussion assessments, follow-up assessments post injury, and assisting with the oversight and collection of head impact data for collegiate athletics teams and/or physical education courses (combatives, boxing). Additionally, the coordinator will assist with data entry and storage and provide support to the study team. The Clinical Research Coordinator may also be asked to assist the investigators with the dissemination of data in the form of research manuscripts and professional presentations. There may be additional opportunities to help with other lines of research (Lower Extremity Injury Prevention, Post-Traumatic Osteoarthritis) supported by the Orthopaedic Research Department at Keller.
**Must possess an ATC (Athletic Trainer Certification)**
This is an on-site position assigned to the Keller Army Community Hospital (KACH) on the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY. A thorough government background check will be required.
About The Project
Quantitative Pupillometry for the Diagnosis and Prognosis of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury - To leverage existing technology (quantitative pupillometer) and resources (infrastructure for baseline testing and follow up at West Point) to evaluate the use of quantitative pupillometry as a biomarker for the diagnosis of mTBI. This will be a prospective study enrolling cadets at West Point pre-injury and tracking them after their injuries to evaluate the pupillary changes. Incoming freshmen and high-risk athletes will be evaluated at baseline prospectively and then again within 48hrs of their initial injury, at restricted return to play, and unrestricted return to play.
Salary Range
$47,800 - $65,000. Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
