Position Description:

The Membership Manager is responsible for the development of a comprehensive membership development program, including stewardship, service, acquisition, and retention.

• Develops and executes integrated mail, online, and telephone campaigns that acquire new Members and donors.
• Develops and executes monthly multi-channel renewal and upgrade solicitations.
• In conjunction with the Assistant Director of Member Relations and Annual Fund, identify members who are possible prospects for upper-level giving.
• Develop compelling messaging for on-site, online, digital, and print materials to entice visitors to become members.
• Develops and executes a series of targeted communications that inform members of benefits, encourage benefit usage, and thank them for their support throughout the year, keeping them informed and connected.
• Utilizes the website to promote membership in the most effective ways and make the membership purchase process as user-friendly as possible.
• Serve as onsite spokesperson of membership for special membership-related events to interact and better understand the membership base.
• In collaboration with External Affairs and the Science & Education teams, create special events and upgraded museum experiences to enhance and encourage membership.
• Provides External Affairs leadership monthly reports on program performance and maintains a system of departmental reports that inform strategy and budgeting.
• Creates yearly membership budget and closely monitors revenues and expenses throughout the year. • Act as the face and voice of the membership program for potential, new, and existing members, regularly interacting with them over the phone and via email.
• Survey and analyze member experience to help guide strategy.
• Works with the Ticketing Applications Manager to ensure that member benefits are set up properly and easily redeemed in Galaxy, the point-of-sale system.
• Works with the External Affairs Operations team to ensure that solicitation lists are generated and coded according to internal best practices.

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of nonprofit membership experience, preferably in a science center or museum setting.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings
