The Foundation for Enhancing Communities is Hiring an Assistant Controller Near Harrisburg, PA

Job DescriptionThe Financial Services Associate’s primary purpose is to assist the Controller in accomplishing all the day-to-day activities which allows the Foundation to meet all fiduciary responsibilities.
Major Accountabilities:
  • Enters all accounts payable into the system and ensures that terms and due dates are accurately reflected.
  • Enters all contributions into the system and ensures that the donor information is accurate and that their contribution is appropriately applied.
  • Acts as liaison between the Foundation and all projects meeting all their financial and accounting needs.
  • Monitors and collects the Foundation’s outstanding pledges.
  • Prepares various journal entries which then are entered into the Foundation’s accounting software.
  • Handles the 1099 process.
  • Handles the reporting of sales tax.
  • Handles the Paypal account.
  • Provides minimal administrative support to the Controller at times when certain mailing, filing and copying projects arise.
  • Handles sending out The Foundation’s fund statements on a semi-annual basis.
  • Acts as liaison between the Foundation and the Management Agreements as assigned.
  • And all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education equivalent to a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Five years or more in an accounting or business role or related professional experience preferably within a nonprofit agency.
  • Outstanding analytical skills, written and oral communication skills; ability to think and act independently and to explain alternatives clearly.
  • General knowledge of GAAP principles, specifically those pertaining to nonprofit agencies.
  • Project management skills.
  • Computer skills, experience with the Microsoft Office Suite as well as the ability to comprehend the Foundation’s software package (Foundant).
  • Experience in working with boards and committees in nonprofit organizations.
