Job Summary
Fircreek Day Camp Leadership Personnel (LPs) play a crucial role in our team. Your job is to ensure the camp runs smoothly and safely. You'll take the lead in specific areas, guiding and mentoring other staff as they join you in those tasks. Whether it's waterfront, music and worship, or leading an activity zone, our leaders are the heart of creating a safe and fun atmosphere for staff and campers.

But it's not just about the work – as a leader, you'll also have the chance to form connections and guide the staff through bible studies and shared experiences. It's more than just a job; it's a chance to make lasting memories and build meaningful relationships!

What is Fircreek Day Camp?

Located in Bellingham, Washington, in a picturesque wooded area, within walking distance of its own waterfront property, Fircreek Day Camp is all about providing an incredible summer experience for children entering 1st–6th grade.

From swimming & boating on beautiful Lake Whatcom, to sports & games, creative crafts, singing and all manner of silliness, summer weeks at Fircreek are packed with fun for campers.

Duties

  • Supervise and engage with campers during daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, sports, and other recreational activities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive camp environment that promotes teamwork, respect, and personal growth.
  • Provide guidance and support to campers in developing social skills, problem-solving abilities, and self-confidence.
  • Assist with the implementation of behavior management strategies to ensure a positive camp experience for all participants.
  • Collaborate with other camp staff to coordinate schedules, manage group dynamics, and address any concerns or issues that may arise.

Qualifications

  • Active follower of Christ.
  • Able to take initiative.
  • Enjoys helping kids learn and grow.
  • A willingness to be wild and crazy doesn't hurt.
  • Previous experience working with children in a tutoring, daycare, theater, sports coaching, or classroom management setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and techniques for behavior management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with children, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also demonstrating initiative and leadership skills.
  • Understanding of Christian counseling principles .

  • Leadership Training Weekends: May 18-19 & June 15-16
  • All Staff Training: June 16-23
  • Session A: June 23 - July 26
  • Session B: July 28 - August 28
  • Full summer: June 23 - August 28
