The Farmer's Dog is Hiring a FP&A Manager - Operations & New Product Development Near New York, NY

Who We Are

The Farmer’s Dog is the fastest growing pet health service company in the US, and was born from a mission to change the landscape of pet health, providing dogs and their humans with honest, smart, and simple care – a fresh proposition in an industry riddled with manipulative and misleading marketing. We’re starting by radically improving the $100 billion pet food market, replacing bulk bags of highly-processed pellets with a personalized subscription service that sends healthy, freshly-made dog food, balanced by top veterinary nutritionists, directly to customers’ doors. Our ultimate goal is to create innovative, honest, and delightful experiences across all aspects of pet care, and we believe our direct-to-consumer business model, holistic approach to growth, and dynamic and forward-thinking culture uniquely position us to shepherd this backwards industry into the future.

To date, The Farmer’s Dog has delivered hundreds of millions of meals nationwide and raised over $150M in funding to help us build a company as healthy as the dogs who are eating those meals. Join us as we continue to develop ways of bringing peace of mind to our customers, health to their companions, and much-needed change to the way people feed and care for their pets.

Where You'll Come In

The dynamic FP&A Manager will have broad responsibility across areas of FP&A, with particular focus on partnering with our product development and R&D departments. This role will contribute to long-term planning and forecasting, build performance analysis, and evaluate capital investments. Working hand-in-hand with business partners, they'll provide invaluable financial insights to shape strategic decisions. Additionally, they'll team up with operations groups to ensure seamless product launches, optimize margins, and adapt to shifts in demand. This role reports directly to the Senior Manager, FP&A.

How You'll Make An Impact

  • Serve as the primary finance business partner for product development and R&D, offering expertise in ad hoc analysis (e.g., payback, margin, demand forecast), model creation, and KPI development and monitoring.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process and the long-range plan, performing financial analysis and modeling support as well as partnering with budget owners
  • Lead the development and implementation of critical processes for evaluating new products across various stages, from R&D conception to final rollout.
  • Take charge of managing and monitoring new product development projects, delivering regular updates on analysis and key metrics, proactively identifying risks, and collaborating across functions to ensure timely execution.
  • Collaborate with FP&A colleagues to integrate the latest outlooks effectively into forecasts, models, and other financial analyses.
  • Develop, maintain and improve financial models and conduct scenario analyses on financial implications to assist leadership in making strategic decisions
  • Maintain and iterate on weekly/monthly performance and KPI process with product development, R&D, and Operations
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses and build presentations to report to the leadership team, providing insightful and impactful recommendation

We're Excited About You Because

  • You have 5-7 years of FP&A, Strategic Finance, Supply Chain Finance or related finance experience
  • You have experience in a high-growth D2C and/or subscription business, with a knack for building models from scratch and navigating ambiguity.
  • You possess a strategic finance mindset with operational acumen, ideally focusing on subscription companies (experience in the food manufacturing industry is a plus!).
  • Experience leveraging data-driven insights and launching new products is in your toolkit.
  • You're adept at managing cross-functional partnerships and communication. Has demonstrated the ability to absorb and distill complexity into simple terms to drive decision-making. Experience driving consensus amongst cross-functional groups and facilitating cross-functional discussions.
  • You are detail-oriented and proactive, you thrive as a self-starter and excel in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • You're adept at financial model building, possess a strong grasp of operations and supply chain dynamics, and understand the nuances of subscription-based businesses.
  • Familiarity with Looker is preferred, and experience with systems like Workday and NetSuite is a plus!
