What you will be doing:

  • Prepare and service all food items for a la carte and or buffet menus according to hotel recipes and standards
  • Actively share ideas, opinions and suggestions in daily shift briefings
  • In conjunction with the chef on duty; proactively prioritize, delegate, and assign duties to Cooks and Stewards to ensure a consistently high level of service and quality food for our guests
  • Maintain and order supplies, ensuring storeroom requisitions are accurate
  • Consistently ensure food quality, consistency and quantity are meeting established expectations
  • Have full knowledge of all menu items, daily features and promotions
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils and equipment
  • Follow kitchen policies, procedures and service standards
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Ensure food cost is managed and minimize spoilage; by controlling food waste through FIFO rotation, storage and preparation of all foods in all areas of the kitchen
  • Train other cooks in all aspects of the culinary operation
  • Liaise with other departments such as FOH and Stewarding to ensure excellent communication in order to achieve smooth operational outcomes
Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Creative and passionate about food and customer service
  • Previous experience in the culinary field required
  • Diploma/Certification in a Culinary discipline an asset
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly responsible and reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts including AM, PM, evenings and weekends
  • Able to multitask and prioritize
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a team player utilizing proper communication channels
  • Clear understanding of Servsafe standards and proper food handling techniques

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
