Job Summary:
Prepare students for the GED test. Proctor, score, and evaluate diagnostic exam. Differentiate instruction based on ability. Instruction based on the four subjects tested on GED. Classes are hybrid. Instruction happens face to face and online simultaneously. this position takes place in the day Monday-Thursday 10am-1pm. This is position is contingent on funding from the Rhode Island Department of Education.
Responsibilities:
1. Knowledge of expectations and outcomes of RI Department of education funded programs
2. Develop lesson plans including basic skills Science, Math, Social Studies, and Reading through Language Arts
3. Deliver instruction to students online and in person in a manner that maximizes learning in the context of adult roles and application of learning
4. Remain up-to-date on current adult education and workforce trends
5. Conduct on-going student assessment and evaluation with individual students including teacher-made assessments, CASAS assessments, and student self-evaluation
6. Produce student outcomes that are consistent with the requirements of our funder
7. Complete necessary paperwork, including student progress reports, attendance reports, and outcome information as required by agency policy, funding sources and supervisor requests
8. Work with students to effectively integrate the use of technology into instruction in the classroom
9. Provide differentiated instruction to meet individual learning requirements and to support a variety of learning styles and modalities
10. Provide a classroom environment that is conducive to a positive learning experience while promoting positive self-concepts
11. Collaborate with colleagues in reviewing student work
12. Participation in Term Planning & Orientation Session prior to the commencement of Fall term
13. Participation in monthly staff and professional development activities
14. Adhere to agency policies and procedures
15. Other duties as deemed necessary for achieving the objectives of the program
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in education
2. At least two years of teaching experience, adult learners is preferred
3. Outstanding oral, written, and technological skills, including proficiency with the use of computers, online learning platforms, Zoom, Google Suite, and with Microsoft Office
4. Sensitivity to different backgrounds and cultures. Bilingual preferred
5. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
6. Knowledge of learning disabilities preferred
7. Effective interpersonal skills to work with students, teachers and administrators including the ability to respect various points of view
8. Awareness of the scope of the Education Exchange programs and services
