The Speechwriter will serve as the lead writer for the Communications Department including drafting daily talking points and serving as a speechwriter to the Chair drafting speeches and statements for the Chair and other officers. The speechwriter willl also work with senior DNC officials to manage and coordinate the daily message for surrogates, press, finance and political staff. The speechwriter is responsible for writing a variety of materials to support the communications department, including but not limited to: talking points, weekly issue updates, press releases and advisories, press statements, scripts, blog posts, web copy, marketing materials, op-eds and speeches.
\nResponsibilities:
The starting salary for the Speechwriter position is $72,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is represented by SEIU Local-500 and has an end date of November 15, 2024. This position requires up to 5% travel both in the Washington, D.C. area and across the country to attend and support meetings and events.
