The DarkStar Group is Hiring a Database Developer (TS/SCI + Poly) Near Chantilly, VA

Description

The DarkStar Group is seeking a Database Developer with a TS/SCI Poly clearance (applicable to this customer) to join one of our top projects in Chantilly, VA. Below is an overview of the project, as well as information on our company, our benefits, and our $25,000 referral program.

THE PROGRAM

The DarkStar Group is a member of 100% of the winning teams for the largest technology program in the Intel Community. We've been supporting this customer on many different sub-projects of this program since our founding in 2013. We've grown on this effort by providing the customer with Engineers who have done exceptional work, and we've retained our staff by paying very strong salaries, and working hard to ensure each Engineer is doing work that aligns with their career interest.

THE PROJECT

The Sponsor champions data management, governance, accessibility and quality in accordance with the official enterprise data strategy and strategic direction implemented by the Sponsor’s Chief Data Officer. The Sponsor delivers high quality, timely and secure information technology solutions and services in support of a global business system ecosystem. The Sponsor requires support for Application Programming Interface (API) Gateway, the Sponsor Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and the migration of data to new repositories to support the Sponsor’s business data strategy. The Contractor shall provide operations and maintenance (O&M) and database development for legacy databases for Sponsor systems to include the enterprise API Gateway, EDW and new modern databases consistent with the Sponsor’s business data strategy. The Contractor shall provide support for deployment packaging, system maintenance and troubleshooting to maintain sustainability and reliability of the Sponsor’s systems and applications. These mission critical systems must continue without interruption and meet Sponsor approved timelines for new development activities. The Contractor shall ensure that all development and modifications to existing Sponsor applications and databases comply with Sponsor’s security and architectural policies and regulations. The Contractor shall be required to communicate and collaborate across organizational boundaries, to include other contractor teams. The Contractor shall be required to work with Sponsor staff and contractor personnel, as well as external stakeholders.

THE ROLE

The Contractor shall determine how requirements are satisfied. The Contractor shall ensure that all developed applications and modifications to existing Sponsor applications operate in compliance with applicable documents. Planned activities shall be coordinated with all stakeholders and approved by the Sponsor. In making their requirements determination, the Contractor shall consider the following:

  • Use existing enterprise services rather than building single-purpose solutions.
  • Fully describe and document mission solution architecture and interfaces, with any deviation requiring prior approval via the Sponsor-approved waiver process.
  • Ensure each new application or system enhancement meets agreed upon performance Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for system up-time, concurrent users and system recovery.
  • Monitor each application to provide status awareness and include a resolution plan for the application in the event of its failure.
  • Comply with Sponsor’s Risk Management Framework (RMF) to ensure that the program addresses and mitigates vulnerabilities and risks identified throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Comply with Sponsor’s Agile Development Framework.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Demonstrated experience with Tableau and COGNOS for reporting presentation.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and interfacing with Application Program Interfaces (APIs).
  • Demonstrated experience performing testing and quality assurance of developed solutions within the existing Oracle data tier.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, creating, and modifying data structure and data load routines for analytic use cases.
  • Demonstrated experience working with relational data tiers including cleansing, transforming and processing of structured data.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and supporting applications using Java, JavaScript, and Python.
  • Demonstrated experience working with views, triggers and Oracle PL and SQL.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Amazon Web Services environments, including RDS, S3, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience working within an Agile project management model.

Desired Skills (Optional)

  • Demonstrated experience as agile scrum master.
  • Demonstrated experience with Amazon Web Services/Cloud Data Migration Services.
  • Demonstrated experience with JIRA.
  • Demonstrated experience with IMMUTA data policy.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with Sponsor staff, IT customers, and other technical and non-technical staff and contractors at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of data repository types (i.e., relational, NoSQL, distributed processing framework, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience creating and interfacing with REST APIs.
