The DarkStar Group is seeking a Backend Software Developer with a TS/SCI CI Poly clearance to join one of our top projects in Reston, VA. Below is an overview of the project, as well as information on our company, our benefits, and our $25,000 referral program.

THE ROLE

DarkStar has an immediate need for Back-End Software Engineers to support our team at a customer site in Reston, VA, and in a HYBRID capacity. In this role, you will be part of a talented, multi-disciplinary team using diverse data sources against challenging, high-visibility, and high-impact projects.

Specifically, our team has been tasked with building a suite of back-end services, front-end applications, and a data layer to support critical intelligence work that combines advanced analytical techniques and tradecraft with software engineering to advance a hard-target mission. We have the freedom to design and engineer our solutions as best we see fit using the latest tech available. We operate in a fast-paced environment and have a reputation for delivering capability to users quickly and with a high standard of quality.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field (4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree. A Masters degree may count as 2 years of experience.).
• 5 years demonstrated experience with programming, design, and development. 
• In-depth of knowledge in Python or Java. 
• Experience developing REST APIs. 
• Exposure to building and supporting solutions in AWS. 
• Working knowledge of agile software development practices and tools, such as Jira, Confluence, and git.

Desired Skills (Optional)

• Development experience with current frameworks (e.g., Fast API, Flask, Spring).
• SQL/database/ORM experience, especially Postgres.
• Experience with Docker.
• Experience with messaging systems such as Redis or Kafka.
• AWS Associate and/or Pro Certification(s).
• Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills.
