THE COVE OF LAKE GENEVA is Hiring a Lifeguard Near Geneva, WI

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes guest safety and engagement in accordance with The Cove of Lake Geneva policies and procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum age of 16

Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid Certification

Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness

Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with Red Cross Standards

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with The Cove of Lake Geneva policies and procedures
  • Completes related reports as required
  • Maintains effective, positive relationships with guests and other staff
  • Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
  • Maintains accurate records as required by The Cove of Lake Geneva and/or the state Health Department code.
  • Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  • Checks pools for hazardous conditions when arriving
  • Replace any missing items and/or repairing (when possible), otherwise making note of anything needing attention and report to the pool manager
  • Performs chemical testing at appropriate times of the day, as required, and takes appropriate action.
  • Attends all staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Maintain a good supply of clean towels as well as keep dirty towels picked up.
  • Deliver dirty towels to laundry and return clean towels to the pool area
  • Fold excess towels and place on shelves
  • Constant walk-through of the pool area, including locker rooms and fitness room to make certain it is clean, (no trash on the ground), towels are picked up, and everything is in order
  • Caution swimmers regarding unsafe areas or behavior
  • Maintain order in swimming areas. Ensure guests are adhering to safety guidelines

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of the time performing each function to be solely determined by the director based upon departmental and hotel needs.

  • Have complete knowledge and certification in Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid
  • Adhere to and enforce all pool safety rules
  • Supportive to resort-wide training programs
  • Perform exceptional communication skill throughout all functions of the job
  • Make guests’ requests your top priority
  • Adhere to hotel safety standards
  • Perform other duties and handle projects as assigned by the pool manager.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to pass lifeguard water test
  • Must be able to remain alert
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish stress signals
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue
  • Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations
  • Many work tasks are performed outdoors
  • Bend, stoop, squat, stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks
  • Perform all cleaning duties as assigned by the pool manager

  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of hotel operations
