The Consortium of Jewish Day Schools is Hiring a High School Science Department Chair Near Boca Raton, FL

Katz Yeshiva High School, a private Jewish high school in Boca Raton, Florida, offers a rigorous dual curriculum in Judaic and General Studies to a student body of 500. Our faculty consists of educators with diverse backgrounds who possess a shared passion for inspiring students and instilling within them a lifelong love of learning. We are currently recruiting for the position of High School Science Department Chair for the 2024–2025 school year.

High School Science Department Chair 

Committed to fostering academic excellence, critical thinking, and a passion for lifelong learning, KYHS is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the High School Science Department Chair. The successful candidate will provide leadership, vision, and guidance to a team of dedicated science educators and will play a key role in shaping the academic success of our students. 

Candidates should have a Master's degree in a relevant field (Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.), substantial experience teaching high school science, comprehensive knowledge of discipline-specific curriculum and instruction methods, strong organizational and communication skills, and demonstrated leadership experience in a school setting. 

Duties & Responsibilities 

Provide leadership and direction to the high school science department and support the development of the teachers in the department. 

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students. 

Conduct individual meetings with faculty members in the department as well as regular department meetings with the entire department to facilitate communication and collaboration among faculty members and to develop and implement innovative and engaging science curriculum. 

Teach three to four science classes four times weekly for a total of 12-16 periods per week. Create lessons and give assessments that are consistent with course content and objectives and that challenge students to think critically and creatively. 

Stay current on educational trends, research, and best practices in science education.

Manage department resources and equipment. 

Collaborate with other department chairs and school administrators to enhance the overall educational experience of the students. 

Compensation and benefits range between 75,000-85,000 and are commensurate with qualifications.
