Job Description
Kohelet Yeshiva, a private Modern Orthodox Jewish High School in Lower Merion, PA, seeks a full-time English teacher for the 2022-2023 academic year. Candidates should be able to teach a variety of high school English courses and have education and experience teaching critical reading, writing, and analytical skills. We are looking for a reflective candidate who is passionate about teaching and who enjoys working in an environment that promotes continuing professional learning.
Desired skills and experience include:
A degree in English or a related field, or a degree in education with coursework in language arts, or experience teaching high school English.
Ability to connect with students and convey enthusiasm for fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, and other texts.
Ability to support student development as analytical thinkers, readers, and writers.
Classroom management and organizational skills.
Ability to differentiate content for students with a variety of strengths and skill levels.
Comfort with educational technology, including computers and learning management systems.
Past teaching experience and certifications in Pennsylvania for English are desired but not required.
