Columbus Quarry, LLC is searching for a Pit Supervisor/Foreman for its granite rock quarry in Fortson, GA. In this role, you will support a positive safety culture by directing the activities and staff within a mining environment regulated by MSHA safety standards. You will oversee operations of the Pit, and administrative personnel to achieve safety, compliance, and profitability goals in the production of aggregates. Position Summary: Responsible for effective operations and maintenance of the pit. This will include primary production as well as execution of proactive and reactive maintenance. Responsible for making and following up on decisions to maximize productivity.

What you will do:

• Promote safe work habits and provide safe working conditions.
• Conduct and/or review all hazard assessments through work area exams and pre/post daily and inform employees of safety hazards found. Ensure safety hazards are effectively abated in a timely manner.
• Exhibit and enforce safety and company policies. Ensure PPE is used as required.
• Plan and schedule primary plant production to maximize productivity and optimize the utilization of employees, resources, and equipment for the pit.
• Supervise and direct pit/primary employees, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, as well as daily, weekly, and annual performance objectives.
• Effectively communicate daily tasks to the pit team, assign tasks accordingly.
• Report daily production and track KPI’s of pit performance.
• Ensure material production meets quality control standards.
• Evaluate employee performance and work with Plant Manager to effect coaching/corrective action as required.
• Manage the operation of the pit and stripping areas, pit and primary equipment repair and maintenance.
• Ensure production levels are at an optimum with a minimum of downtime and mobile equipment is operated correctly.
• Provide an example of good leadership.
• Generate operating and project budgets for operating area.
• Ensure the operating area works within a defined budget and manages costs within set guidelines.
• Work with management for ongoing pit development plans, ensure implementation of set plan.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you will need:

• 5 years working knowledge of quarry/primary production, pit fleet optimization, drilling, blasting, equipment, and processes.
• Previous management/supervisory experience required.
• Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Priority emphasis and strong time-management skills.
• Analytical abilities and comfort with using data and objective information for making decisions.
