The Concrete Company (Foley Products) is Hiring an Area Operations Manager - Aggregates Near Columbus, GA

Job Description:

We are growing!In 1989, we established Foley Materials Company to provide aggregates to The Concrete Company’s ready-mix concrete operations. In 2008 we expanded our business with the addition of Columbus Quarry, LLC, to our aggregates division. In 2019 we added Greenbriar Sand to our aggregates group, this being our first dredge planty. At the present time there are 5 fully operational plants in GA/AL and several other locations that are operational as the need arises. The Area Operations Manager will be instrumental in helping us grow our footprint further into the market.

What you’ll get to do

  • Manage and provide leadership for the operations staff to ensure site safety and environmental compliance programs are achieved.
  • Ensure overall cost and quality responsibilities are achieved, by supporting the facility teams in all ways needed.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure that effective plans are in place and executed at each operation.
  • Assist the VP Aggregates/Business Development in development, management, and implementation of the business strategic plan.
  • Partner with the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to maintain a safe working environment, meeting all company standards and external regulations.
  • Drive and promote a culture of safety and promote a safe work environment.
  • Manage and provide leadership to ensure planning, scheduling, direct mining, and processing of aggregates to exceed the expectations of both internal and external customers.
  • Identify and develop internal talent from all levels to build the team’s capability and create bench strength to fill key roles.
  • Evaluate performance of subordinates and provide coaching enabling achievement of their full potential.
  • Effectively lead team and supporting functions to accomplish organizational objectives regarding safety, environment, profit, productivity, efficiencies, production costs and quality.
  • Manage and provide leadership for the maintenance of plant and mobile equipment and the purchasing functions for aggregates.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the operations.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Required Experience:

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Five years of combined aggregate, multi-site operations management preferred.
  • Strong understanding/working knowledge of various mining methods, specifications, quality control parameters and geology.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing aggregate operations.
  • Proven experience with operational issues affecting aggregate operations.
  • Knowledge of plant and equipment utilization and processing methods.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial thinking and successes identifying new profitable business opportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills and fact-based, data driven decision making style.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office.
  • Experience in budgeting, managing via financial statements and operations KPI’s.
  • Track record of staff development skills and excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively respond to urgent situations.

Work Environment

This role operates in a mining environment with moving equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels and dusty conditions.
