POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Principal/Account Manager’s primary role is to drive top-line account growth in alignment with enterprise goals and identify ways that we might increase our impact within an agency/organization. To support business stability, the Principal/Account Manager partners with business leaders and project leaders to ensure that the client and staff experience is enhanced as their business portfolio grows in size and scope. The Principal/Account Manager is accountable for their assigned account growth goals and the talent experience within the associated account. The Principal/Account Manager designs, allocates resources, and sets strategic direction for projects and programs. This individual is expected to advise consultants on project work/deliverables and guide project work by using proven methodologies and frameworks. With the Senior Leadership team, the Principal/Account Manager creates a culture of learning that drives individual and organizational development. The Principal/Account Manager reports to the Tier Lead from a scaling and risk perspective and to the Solution Designer for growth and quality/customer value through delivery and proposals.

Requirements

 WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Own client satisfaction and serve as elevation/escalation point for clients at the account level
  • Own and strengthen senior client relationships
  • Support the scoping and shaping of work 
  • Inform TC strategy and solution development and align it with market demand 
  • Own responsibility for the development of our people in the work, including consideration for team member utilization, team account planning/strategy, and individuals’ growth across the account
  • Hold ultimate accountability for deliverables, meeting or exceeding expectations, and effectively using subject matter expertise (SME) resources (to include Solution Designers) within the firm and across our professional networks
  • Provide proactive input to and creation of productization approaches, and flag current and emerging market demands to Solution Designers and Leads
  • Anticipate and report to Solution Designers on pipeline activities for the account and strategic workforce development efforts 
  • Reinforce and promote the goals and measures associated with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)
  • Meet annual performance targets
  • Manage a full-time project or multiple part-time projects successfully by scoping tasks and managing resources to complete such tasks on time, within budget, and to specifications
  • Design long-term and short-term project plans
  • Design and manage the production of high-quality client deliverables
  • Design, facilitate, and manage client meetings to achieve identified, desired outcomes successfully
  • Lead medium-sized teams
  • Engage with clients and successfully advise in one-on-one conversations
  • Manage financial aspects of project lanes/projects to include time tracking/reporting, expense reporting, invoicing, task planning, and status reporting
  • Conduct research and quantitative and qualitative data analysis in support of client projects and meetings; Present research findings (e.g., Excel charts, PowerPoint presentations) and support the production of major client deliverables
  • Support internal TC activities and knowledge management effort

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • 8 years of relevant work experience, including consulting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a relevant field (business, management, etc.) or an MBA is preferred 
  • Solid understanding of commercial and government contracting
  • Proficient financial acumen in relation to a professional services firm
  • Proficiency in developing pricing strategies that enable profitable growth
  • Experience managing medium-sized teams
  • Proven track record of account management and growth in the consulting industry (or professional services industry) 
  • Proven experience in change management, organizational development, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of change management principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Strong business writing abilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel to client sites in the surrounding DC and Baltimore metro areas; occasional travel outside of these regions could be expected (10%) 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance; current government suitability clearance is highly preferred
  • Ability to remain positive, flexible, and action-oriented in a fast-paced, emerging field where complexity and ambiguity are to be expected
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to easily communicate ideas and findings; Ability to synthesize and succinctly articulate research findings
  • Ability to collaborate well with a team and work independently with minimal guidance
  • Positive and proactive approach to problem-solving
  • A desire to learn, grow, and undertake new challenges to build out new knowledge sets and advise clients directly
  • Final candidates may be asked to submit a writing sample upon request
  • Must be local to the DC metropolitan area or willing to relocate

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing duties of this job, an employee may be required to perform any, or all of the following: Attend meetings in and out of the office, travel (sometimes extensively); Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand; Communicate effectively (both orally and in writing); Ability to effectively use computers and other electronic and standard office equipment; Occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work is primarily sedentary and involves sitting for several hours at a time. Occasionally walking, climbing stairs, and standing occur in this role. Additionally, this job requires certain mental demands, including the ability to use judgment, withstand moderate amounts of stress and maintain attention to detail.
