Description
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
· Start and maintain peripheral IV lines, and able to access implanted chest ports for infusion therapy, administer injectable medication.
· Ensure the consent is signed and patient understands risks and benefits of the transfusion.
· Maintain a current, accurate infusion and transfusion log, and patient tickler files, as appropriate.
· Ensure appropriate handling and accurate documentation of all medications ordered by the provider.
· Chart the assessments and interventions in patient’s record.
· Maintain and record drug counts at beginning and end of day on a daily basis.
· Responsible for handling emergency adverse reactions during infusions.
· Must multi-task, monitor patient condition, notify appropriate personnel of any changes, and provide services requiring substantial, specialized nursing skill.
· Maintain proper clinical and billing records in compliance with the Practice protocols.
· Adhere to prescribing guidelines, office protocols.
· Continually update training and self-studies regarding administration of medication, patient assessment and counseling points specific to each medication.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate Degree, Diploma in Nursing, or BSN required.
-Current licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
· To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Medical Practice Software, Windows, and Microsoft Office.
· 1-2 years’ experience required.
· IV insertion a plus.
· Basic Life support (BLS).
· Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (CPR).
· Must have excellent written and verbal customer service skills in order to interact with the patient, physician, pharmacist and other partners.
