The Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) exists to support transformation and inspire loving action in the world through the teaching of Christian contemplative wisdom and practices. Internally, we are working to create a healthy work environment that is grounded in the values of the tradition that we represent. With extensive expertise in your field, you will manage general accounting functions and deliver accurate, timely reports to facilitate well-informed decision-making. Your leadership will uphold the organization's adherence to non-profit accounting principles and standards. As a leader of a smaller team, you'll also be a contributing member - reviewing journal entries, troubleshooting data, and supporting other hands-on projects as needed.

This role demands attention to detail, strong leadership, and dedication to fostering a culture rooted in our mission and values.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and maintain financial system dashboards and other financial reporting tools and reports.
  • Direct the development and implementation of internal control policies & procedures.
  • Oversee and manage audits, 990 tax returns, sales tax, contract, and compliance functions.
  • Direct the integrity of the accounting information by maintaining the organization's compliance with non-profit accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.

Who You Are:

  • You demonstrate leadership by effectively managing yourself, your relationships, and your results. You set a vision, activate aspiration, and guide individuals and teams to accomplish the mission.
  • You plan, organize, direct, monitor, and control work to create an effective and efficient department.
  • You’re an effective problem-solver. You’re able to analyze problems, understand root causes, and apply systems solutions to create beneficial and long-lasting change.
  • You can make decisions and the quality and timeliness of those decisions.
  • You set clear expectations and agreements, appropriately delegating work and empowering your team.
  • You have a growth mindset and approach performance challenges through a supportive lens, helping an employee to improve through coaching, adaptive leadership and direct feedback.
  • You understand the stages of team development and successfully builds a high performing and healthy team. Manages differences, elevates strengths, and provides the leadership necessary for a group of people to come together to create extraordinary results.
