Summary:

The Bowery Mission (TBM) is dedicated to promoting the flourishing of New Yorkers overcoming homelessness and marginalization. Since 1894, we have been providing a haven for those in need. We extend our mission to the Poconos Region of Pennsylvania, where we offer children unforgettable experiences in a nurturing environment. Our 200-acre facility in Bushkill, PA, serves as a sanctuary where children can grow and thrive under the guidance of dedicated mentors.
The Facilities Associate will play a pivotal role in maintaining our facility in Bushkill, PA. Under the direct supervision of our Residential Manager, you will ensure that our buildings and grounds are well-maintained, creating a hospitable environment for our guests and residents. This role involves a variety of duties, including but not limited to equipment maintenance, system upkeep, and physical inspections of assigned areas. You will be responsible for responding to work orders, completing checklists, and collaborating with teams to meet facility needs. The ideal candidate will be capable of walking long distances over rough terrain, performing basic plumbing and minor electrical work, and managing groundskeeping tasks. Additionally, the ability to lift heavy objects, operate machinery, and possess a valid driver’s license is required.

Work Schedule: Mon -Friday : :00am-3:30pm

Responsibilities:

• Routine maintenance - Provide ongoing physical review of assigned areas (including roof, sidewalks, grounds keeping and other needs of this physical camp).
• Perform tasks to maintain essential systems, such as preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment, completing assigned checklists, minor plumbing repairs, and responding to work orders. 
• Teamwork – Assist Facility staff and other teams to provide excellent service. Includes a variety of tasks, such as: physically assisting with deliveries; sanitation duties (garbage removal, recycling, cardboard collection); event/space set-up; helping during events with dishwashing and other needs; and serving as back-up for absent co-workers.
• The ability to lift heavy objects, operate machinery, and possess a valid driver’s license is required
• Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.

Requirements:

• Embraces the organization's Statement of Faith.
• Must be legally authorized to work in US, we do not offer sponsorship opportunities at this time
• Understanding of basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills
• Familiarity with building equipment (i.e. heating/air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical panels)
• Able to safely bend, lift, and squat at least 50 lbs., and able to stand for long periods of time
• Strong personal initiative and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Valid driver’s license
• High professional standards of behavior, including maturity and accountability
• Proficient with mobile technology (installing applications, using email on a smartphone, texting, etc.) 
• High School Diploma or equivalent certifications 

Preferred:

• Experience working on a residential or commercial property in the capacity of Facilities Maintenance

Salary range (commensurate with experience & education): $16.50 - $18 per hour
