Position Overview
Directs logistics operations in efforts to reduce costs, improve delivery times, and support the movement of supplies, blood, and blood components.
Essential Functions
Coordinate the logistics of transporting clinical products from manufacturing facilities to distribution centers, healthcare facilities, and other points of use.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for the transportation of clinical products, including proper handling, storage, and documentation.
Develop and implement transportation plans and procedures to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of clinical products.
Manage a team of transportation professionals, including drivers, dispatchers, and logistics coordinators, providing leadership, training, and support.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as supply chain, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs teams, to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
Monitor transportation operations and performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Establish relationships with transportation vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts and service agreements to optimize costs and service levels.
Address customer inquiries, concerns, and issues related to clinical product transportation, ensuring prompt resolution and customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications
Four-year degree in Logistics, Operations, Business Administration, or Supply Chain
One to two years of experience in Logistics Management
Must be a self-starter, able to function independently, be motivated to remain abreast of current technology and methods, and be a team player
Ability to lead and coach subordinates into good work performance
Ability to learn and use multiple computer systems for monitoring and tracking movements
Ability to analyze data in Excel
Ability to use route optimization software
Ability to generate computerized reports for analysis
Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors, and co-workers
Ability to work with all levels and in a diverse work environment
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers
