Position Overview
  • Directs logistics operations in efforts to reduce costs, improve delivery times, and support the movement of supplies, blood, and blood components.
Essential Functions
  • Coordinate the logistics of transporting clinical products from manufacturing facilities to distribution centers, healthcare facilities, and other points of use.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for the transportation of clinical products, including proper handling, storage, and documentation.
  • Develop and implement transportation plans and procedures to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of clinical products.
  • Manage a team of transportation professionals, including drivers, dispatchers, and logistics coordinators, providing leadership, training, and support.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as supply chain, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs teams, to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
  • Monitor transportation operations and performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Establish relationships with transportation vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts and service agreements to optimize costs and service levels.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and issues related to clinical product transportation, ensuring prompt resolution and customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in Logistics, Operations, Business Administration, or Supply Chain
  • One to two years of experience in Logistics Management
  • Must be a self-starter, able to function independently, be motivated to remain abreast of current technology and methods, and be a team player
  • Ability to lead and coach subordinates into good work performance
  • Ability to learn and use multiple computer systems for monitoring and tracking movements
  • Ability to analyze data in Excel
  • Ability to use route optimization software
  • Ability to generate computerized reports for analysis
  • Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors, and co-workers
  • Ability to work with all levels and in a diverse work environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers
