The Bar Assoc of San Francisco is Hiring a Grants & Contracts Coordinator Near San Francisco, CA

The Justice & Diversity Center of The Bar Association of San Francisco (JDC) seeks a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and motivated Grants and Contracts Coordinator. This is a fast-paced and pivotal position for an organized and dynamic team player who wants to use their skills, innovation, and experiences to positively affect change for those who benefit from our programs. JDC advances fairness and equality by providing pro bono legal services to low-income people and educational programs that foster diversity in the legal profession.

JDC is a 501(c)(3) organization supporting our core areas of focus: Pro Bono Legal Services, the Homeless Advocacy Project, Immigration and Diversity Educational programs.

About the Job:

The Grants and Contracts Coordinator will work closely with the Development Director and Grants Manager to obtain grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies; maintain government contracts; manage the relationships with these donors; and submit required reports. This individual will work closely with development and executive staff to plan and implement institutional fund-raising strategies; research and track government, foundation, and corporate grant opportunities; proactively identify RFP opportunities and assist with preparing proposals as necessary; and research statistics and policy developments. The Grants and Contracts Coordinator will also assist in developing and implementing cultivation and stewardship plans for current and prospective grant funders.

Specifically, this position will:

  • Maintain calendar of proposal submissions
  • Manage current and prospective grant funders
  • Work with program leads to obtain program goals and objectives for inclusion in proposals
  • Coordinate the grant and contract reporting process by obtaining financial and programmatic information
  • Monitor financial status of all grant awards: prepare/submit requests for reimbursements; monitor budget expenditures for grant compliance; prepare required financial reports and budget adjustments for grant awards; maintain accurate and complete grant files, and perform grant related special projects and audits
  • Assist Grants Manager with grant applications and proposals: prepare grant applications in accordance regulations, policies, and procedures; submit grant proposals through appropriate web-based and hardcopy processes; submit quarterly and annual progress reports
  • Coordinate the response to RFPs, LOIs, and other funding solicitations and requests
  • Track the status of grant requests
  • Schedule and attend site visits
  • Write grant reports, edit reports prepared by project directors, and submit reports to funding agencies
  • Assist in developing revenue projections as part of the annual budgeting process
  • Develop project budgets in concert with program and accounting staff and work with accounting department, as needed, to ensure that government contract invoices are submitted properly

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and expertise sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position
  • Minimum of five years’ experience with grants and contracts and a proven track record of success
  • Experience with and a successful track record of personally identifying, cultivating, and soliciting corporations, government entities, and foundations for support (grants and other funding)

Skills and Requirements:

  • Established and effective communicator; highly skilled in writing and speaking; ability to communicate JDC’s mission and interests to a broad audience; adept at crafting proposals, responding to RFPs
  • Knowledge of corporate and foundation giving, as well as working with government agencies such as the City and County of San Francisco
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and to gain the respect and support of various constituencies, including board and staff members, grantors, foundation and civic leaders, volunteers, and community partners
  • Ability to strategize and be adept at planning, prioritizing, organizing, and following through on complex projects; highly energetic and able to balance multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to be highly entrepreneurial; resourceful, and flexible; able to anticipate and act on events and opportunities which advance JDC’s mission locally, regionally, and nationally
  • A catalyst with vision who can create excitement and energy around JDC’s programs and encourage others to support the organization; persuasive, persistent, and determined in the pursuit of the organization’s fundraising goals
  • Ability to be responsible and accountable to the organization and to colleagues
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Foundation Center Research, Grants Station or similar research tools and accessing data and generating reports
