About Manville School
Manville School, a program of the Baker Center for Children and Families, is a therapeutic day school providing special education, clinical, and behavioral support for students in kindergarten through tenth grade with complex social-emotional, behavioral, and learning needs.
Manville provides services for up to 115 students from over 50 school districts in the greater Boston area, and has approximately 100 educational, clinical, and behavioral staff members. Manville integrates comprehensive, evidence-based clinical services, innovative educational programming, and tiered behavioral supports to ensure that students with unique needs experience social-emotional development and academic success. School Nurse
The School Nurse is a full-time position for Manville’s Day School. The School Nurse provides leadership and oversight of all medical functions of the school through: direct service, collaboration with a part-time registered school nurse, and close collaboration with Manville’s Clinical Director and Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Essential Duties
- Assess student health status and identify needs on a routine daily basis.
- Administer medications with documentation and accurate record keeping.
- Provide training to staff for medication administration.
- Perform daily first aid treatment to students and staff.
- Work collaboratively with part-time School Nurse.
- Order and maintain health office supplies.
- Develop individual nursing care plans.
- Maintain and continually monitor health policies and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with outside care providers.
- Provide psychoeducation/health counseling to students and families.
- Manage students’ health records.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- Experience: 1 year working with children and/or adolescents
- Training: Licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Skills: Pediatric psychiatric nursing experience preferred
