Clinical Supervisor
The Baker Center for Children and Families (formerly: Judge Baker Children’s Center) established in 1917. The Baker Center for Children and Families, “JBCC” is dedicated to improving the lives of children and adolescents whose mental health problems threaten to limit their potential. JBCC was named in honor of the Boston Juvenile court’s first Judge Harvey Humphrey Baker, a visionary in child welfare. Judge Harvey Baker was among the first to advocate a system based on understanding and treatment to help troubled youth, rather than one using punishment or incarceration. Today, integrating education, service, research, and training, The Baker Center for Children and Families has become a national leader in the field of children’s mental health.

ABOUT THE MA CHILD ABUSE EMERGENCY LINE:
The MA Child Abuse Emergency Line, operated by The Baker Center for Children and Families for DCF, provides a statewide emergency response system protecting the Commonwealth’s children from abuse and neglect. The Emergency Line fields over 70,000 calls per year, operating 24 hours/day, 365 days/year. Supervisors work 8-hour staggered shifts from 4:00 pm – 9:00 am weekdays and staggered shifts throughout the weekend including mornings, afternoons, evening and overnights as well as off-shift responsibilities including individual supervision, quality management activities, meetings and trainings.

CLINICAL SUPERVISOR
Summary:
Clinical Supervisors utilize their clinical skills working collaboratively with telephone screeners to assess the urgency of each call, guiding the fact-gathering and critical thinking process in potential abuse and/or neglect cases requiring a clinical decision and potential intervention. Clinical Supervisors impact the success and advancement of Telephone Screeners through individual supervision and play a critical role in program improvement through participating in various quality management activities and delivering group training. The Emergency Line provides an intensive training program as well as additional opportunities for continuing education.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage shifts collaboratively with team members to promote quality and efficiency.
  • Review Telephone Screeners’ reports and support decision-making in alignment with DCF and Emergency Line policies, procedures, and priorities.
  • Coordinate emergency screening reports and responses with DCF On-Call Supervisors.
  • Foster learning, success and professional development of Telephone Screeners through individual supervision off-shift.
  • Promote a calm, professional, and nonjudgmental working environment.
  • Deliver training for new Screeners and Supervisors.
  • Work together as a supervisory team to ensure coverage of shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in social work or related field-Required
  • Massachusetts social work license or LMHC-Required
  • 2 years working in child welfare.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Possess an understanding of DCF’s mission, vision, and priority population.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to manage in a crisis.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Commitment to working in an integrity-driven environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This is a benefit-eligible position. Presence on-site is required after-hours, weekends, and holidays. This position qualified as “essential personnel” and may require presence on-site during weather-related or other emergency situations.
