The Special Education Teacher position at The Arc is unlike any other! We provide our students with a specialized course load for optimal success. You will have the opportunity to assist students as they go far beyond what they ever imagined what they could do scholastically.

Rivendale Institute of Learning and Center for Autism, our prime objective is to help all students seeking education become independent young adults who can successfully navigate a variety of mainstream situations.
- You will have a set weekly schedule with regular holidays and weekends off.
- Vacation is given as one week off every 8 weeks year-round.
- Comprehensive benefit package for all eligible employees.
- Travel will be required to complete the orientation and trainings.

That’s nice, but what will I actually be doing?
In this role, behavior intervention and communication are key elements. The teacher is responsible for the planning, organizing, and implementing individualized instructional program that guides and encourages students to develop language and academic skills.The teacher is responsible for the day to day implementation, monitoring, and data tracking of circle time, social skill lessons, independent play, activities schedules, self-help skills, motor lab, developing and running individual and group lessons.Also responsible for updating student curriculum, supervising teacher assistants, and communicating with Behavior Analysts and parents on the progress of students.

Our mission is to support individuals with disabilities in directing their own lives as a valued members of the community. In 1959, a small group of parents recognized the need for services for children with developmental disabilities. A support network was established for these children and their families, resulting in the 1963-64 establishment of The Arc. Today, The Arc serves individuals with a variety of disabilities.
