What is this job all about?
The Behavior Support Technician is the bridge between people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their communities. You will encourage and mentor individuals by supporting them in maximizing their full potential. The BST role is involved in providing supports to all aspects of individuals life activities. Support may include daily life skills of cooking, cleaning, hygiene, medication administration, behavioral care, and community participation. That’s nice, but what will I actually be doing?
Currently, there is a specific need for someone with the passion and experience to support young adult individuals who are more frequently experiencing a physical behavioral crisis. These BSTs will work closely with the Applied Behavior Analysis Specialist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst as well as Behavior Consultant and Program Supervisor to implement the individuals' behavior support plans, track and log behavioral outcomes, and support the individuals' through crises while working to help make a difference in their day to day lives.
A Behavior Support Technician is both a mentor and a coach. In this position you will be working hands on with our clients to provide guidance and suggestions to empower their independence. You will do this by:

The Arc of the Ozarks was formed and incorporated as a not-for-profit organization. Our mission is to support individuals with disabilities in directing their own lives as a valued members of the community. In 1959, a small group of parents recognized the need for services for children with developmental disabilities. A support network was established for these children and their families, resulting in the 1963-64 establishment of The Arc. Today, The Arc serves individuals with a variety of disabilities. Services include residential, education, training, day habilitation, therapeutic recreatio...n, advocacy, autism services, employment, psychological counseling - generally helping these individuals live, learn and work in our community. The Arc is affiliated with the Arc of the U.S. and our programs are accredited by CARF.
