Assistant Director of Training

What is this job all about?

The Assistant Director of Training is a professional supervisory position responsible for the coordination and planning of training across all divisions of The Arc. The Assistant Director of Training collaborates with the Director of Training to evaluate existing training programs, revise current training curriculums, ensure consistency across trainers and divisions, track training completion, and develop new training to meet the contractual and support needs of the organization.

The Assistant Director of Training is responsible for the day to day operations of the department, ensuring the necessary processes and procedures are in place to maximize consistency and effectiveness of the department. This includes but is not limited to the supervision and oversight of Training Operations Manager, Training Specialists or other assigned positions.

General supervision is received from the Director of Training and or other designated supervisor; however, the employee is expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative within the limit of established guidelines and procedures. In the absence of the Director of Training, or the Training Operations Manager, the Assistant Director assumes those responsibilities.

This is a salaried, exempt position.

That’s nice, but what will I actually be doing?

  • Provides supervision, direction and oversight to the Training Operations Manager and Training Specialist II and other assigned positions.
  • Assists with training the training department staff and instructors in each division on training policies and procedures, class instruction and records management.
  • Collaborates with Director of Training in determining and implementing department goals.
  • Works closely with other departments including but not limited to human resources, staff development and other program areas to identify additional training needs and ways to further equip staff to be engaged and successful in the organization
  • Closely evaluates training needs of new service offerings within The Arc of the Ozarks, ensuring training design is appropriate based on those specific departmental needs.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of current training programs through a combination of formal and informal processes and recommends quality enhancements. This includes input and feedback from individuals served and their families, direct support staff, management staff, funding sources, and administration.
  • Teaches in person courses including but not limited to orientation, CPR/First Aid, Mandt, Therap 1 and 2, Abuse & Neglect, Paraclete and other assigned courses.
  • Engages with Program Leadership in all divisions to ensure adequate numbers of course instructors from each program.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a human services or other relevant field required. Each year of directly relevant professional experience may serve as a substitute for every one year of college.
  • At least two years experience of training facilitation is required.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
