The Arc of San Diego is Hiring a Community Based Direct Support Professional - Clairemont Mesa Near San Diego, CA

We are currently hiring Community Inclusion Professionals to join our team. You will be working 100% in community-based settings. As a CIP, you’ll support a small group (usually 1:3 ratio) using person-centered approaches, advocacy and empowerment strategies for full engagement in their community of choice.

The pay range for this position is $18.00-$18.50 a hiring bonus of $1,500.

A typical day will include:

Providing culturally appropriate direct support to individuals using person-centered approaches and strategies including:

  • Support and motivation to reach individual goals and objectives
  • Engage and facilitate meaningful activities that cater to the person’s individual interest, preferences, and choices; teaching as necessary
  • Assists daily living skills including in the areas of grooming, hygiene, toileting, feeding and mobility
  • Provides medications as necessary
  • Proactively identifying and facilitating job, training, volunteer or other community activities for program participants

Completion of electronic documentation prior to end of shifts

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Valid CA Driver’s License with clean driving record
  • Immediate access to vehicle with working seatbelts to transport participants
  • Comfort driving a full size van with multiple passengers
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs
  • High comfort in using multiple computer /mobile device programs 
  • Demonstrated knowledge relating to the rights and support services for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities

We’d love it if you:

  • Had 6 or more months of prior hands-on experience with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities
  • Are multi-lingual (English, Spanish, Tagalog)
  • Have experience with electronic case management systems (Therap)
  • Have experience with individual service plans (goal development)
