Job Location: Administrative Office - Butler, PA

Description

This is an administrative position involving the general operation of programs and services at The Arc of Butler County’s Residential Program. The individual in this position is responsible for the management of the Residential Program including but not limited to: budgeting, staff and volunteer supervision, training, programs, services, implementation of policies and procedures, coordination with other agencies, facility maintenance, and compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. The Director of Residential Services reports to and is supervised by the Executive Director.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Prepares annual budgets and budget revisions for residential programs.
  • Ensure compliance with PA Department of Public Welfare/Office of Developmental Programs regulations.
  • Supervise residential staff and volunteers.
  • Ensures that residential staff and volunteers receive orientation and in-service training, as appropriate.
  • Ensures appropriate maintenance, repair, and renovation of residential site(s).
  • Provides monthly reports to Residential Standing Committee.
  • Provides annual reports to Board of Directors.
  • Provides professional monitoring of programs and services of residential program.
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures pertinent to the operation of the residential program.
  • Attends meetings of the Board of Directors, Association, Standing Committees, Select Committees, and Ad Hoc Committees as directed.
  • Coordinates activities and acts as residential program’s liaison with funding organizations and other community agencies.
  • Develops annual goals and objectives in conjunction with the Executive Director.
  • Works with the Human Resource Officer on personnel and labor relations matters.
  • Ensures that all residential records are properly maintained.
  • Responsible for compliance with local, state, and federal laws pertinent to the operation of the residential program.
  • Performs related work as required.

Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of residential programs for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of general principles, practices, and techniques involved with residential programming.
  • Basic knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations relevant to residential services.
  • Experience in supervision of staff.
  • Experience in development of budgets.
  • Experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Individual Program Plans.
  • Experience in a residential program.
  • Ability to relate to the needs of individuals with handicapping conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to be tactful and cooperative.
  • Ability to work with and evaluate people.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, peers, employees, volunteers, residents, and the general public.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Administration, Special Education, Psychology, Public Health, Rehabilitation, Social Work, Speech Pathology, Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or other mental retardation field, that includes at least 15 credit hours in administration and/or mental retardation, and one (1) year experience working directly with individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities or one (1) year working experience in administration/supervision; or

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Administration, Special Education, Psychology, Public Health, Rehabilitation, Social Work, Speech Pathology, Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or other intellectual and developmental disabilities field and two (2) years work experience in administration and one (1) year experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
