  • Salary range starts at $58,000 plus additional of verified experience or hard to fill
  • New teachers start July 30, 2024, School year starts August 7, 2024; school year ends May 23, 2025

SUMMARY: A teacher will perform effective teaching methods to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program that fosters achievement for all students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   1. Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities
  2. Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.
  3. Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
  4. Participate in ongoing professional training sessions.
  5. Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
  6. Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
  7. Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.
  8. Utilize various curriculum resources and technologies to enhance student learning.
  9. Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
  10. Utilize The Academy curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
  11. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  12. Prepare and distribute parent communications.
  13. Observe and evaluate student performance.
  14. Manage student behavior in the classroom creating appropriate behavior strategies.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher. 
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old. 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain from, or be in process with, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) for a valid Colorado Educator License within 30 days of hire.
  • Must possess the required license and endorsement. If highly qualified by content test or semester hours, with no endorsement: applicant must possess a Colorado educator license with a passing score on a CDE approved content test or 36 semester hours in specific core content classes as determined by Human Resources.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with ELL Training and/or an ESL or (LDE) Linguistically Diverse Education Endorsement.

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Personal computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Strong customer service and public relations skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Authorizer policies and building and department procedures
  • Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
  • Operating knowledge of information technology systems and any other department specific software and equipment required within one month after entering position.
