The Academy is seeking a Long Term Substitute Teacher, 2nd Grade for the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year (August - November).

SUMMARY: The Substitute is responsible for working with parents, students and staff in a friendly customer service manner. Duties will vary based on assignment, but should be completed with proficiency, professionalism and in a collaborative manner consistent with the standards of care and quality that accompany the highest norms of the profession.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   1. Duties based on assignment under direction of the Substitute Coordinator and Level Principals.
  2. Follow regular teacher’s lesson plans that ensure optimal learning and student participation.
  3. Assign classwork and homework as necessary according to lesson plans.
  4. Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment.
  5. Work with parents, students and staff in a friendly customer service manner.
  6. Supervision of students in student learning centers, cafeteria, parking lot, etc.
  7. Follow typical substitute work hours based on campus location
  8. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-year Bachelor Degree

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Some assignment may require certifications such as CPR and First Aid, but not limited to.

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Authorizer policies and building and department procedures.
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
  • Must be flexible in job duties.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals. 
  • Operating knowledge of information technology systems and any other department specific software and equipment required within 2 months after entering position.
