The Academy for Teachers brings teachers together with world-class luminaries, experts, and artists—and with each other—for inspiring master classes and special events. As the premiere provider of professional development in New York City (and perhaps the world) we have created a community of passionate, like-minded teachers from public, charter, and private schools.
We are looking for a program assistant. This full-time position offers an opportunity to make a significant contribution to a fast-growing, high-potential, and unique organization. We need a hardworking, detail-oriented, and collaborative colleague who enjoys working independently but is also a team player. The Academy is small, so the program assistant must be flexible and nimble. We’re all working hard toward the same goal of providing inspiring programs for hardworking, underappreciated teachers.
The program assistant will report to the two associate directors for programs and help organize, run, and facilitate follow-up for the Academy's master classes, special events, and other programs. Much of the work will be remote, but attendance at our in-person events—usually during the day, but sometimes in the evening and occasionally on the weekend—is also part of the job. Most days our schedule is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but there will be times when the hours are longer, particularly for our in-person events. This means some flexibility is required, but we’ll return the favor. (Our “flex time” policy assumes a work week of no more than 40 hours.)
Responsibilities of the program assistant include:

You may be just the right candidate for this position.
