Role Outline

The hourly wage ranges from $12 to $18, depending on the applicant's experience and skill level.

The Data Management Specialist Intern will work closely with the Procurement department to support data management projects and initiatives. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data management, database maintenance, and project execution.

The internship duration is until August 9, 2024, or earlier if necessary for the intern's needs. The intern will be mentored by Ben Oldham and will receive regular feedback on their work quality and performance. Upon successful completion of the internship, Thatcher Company will provide a letter of recommendation acknowledging the intern's contributions, skills learned, and experience gained.

Job Responsibilities 

• Export data from databases and update data in compliance with necessary parameters for re-loading into the chosen database.
• Provide data to IT for reloading and assist with other data maintenance tasks as needed.
• Create a new, shared contacts database limited to three contacts per supplier/item/receiver group, ensuring that only up-to-date information is included. The list should cover all suppliers for all items at all Thatcher facilities that qualify as direct materials.
• Update and maintain the TDS and SDS documents in IDM/PPS040, ensuring that no Supplier/Item files lack a proper TDS and SDS.
• Collaborate with the mentor to identify and complete additional projects if time permits.
• Attend regular meetings with the assigned mentor for goal tracking and progress reporting.
• Present project results to the mentor and department director, and receive feedback on the completed work.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a relevant degree program (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or related field).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Familiarity with databases and data management principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
• Previous internship or work experience in data management or a related field is a plus.
