Texas State Optical is Hiring an Optometric Assistant Near Cleburne, TX

We're growing and looking to add another optometric assistant to join our team in Cleburne, Texas. Previous knowledge of optometry or eyewear will be helpful, but not required. Will train the right individual. Pay is based on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist optometrists with preliminary tests and screenings for patients.
  • Prepare examination rooms and maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Greet patients and escort them to the testing area, ensuring their comfort.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient records.
  • Help patients with frame selection, lens fittings, and adjustments.
  • Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and proper care.
  • Conduct pre-testing procedures, including visual acuity, tonometry, and other diagnostic tests.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or coursework in optometry is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare or optometry setting preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of optometric equipment and procedures.
  • Experience in frame styling, lens measurements, and basic repairs.
  • Bilingual proficiency is helpful.
