GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The State Auditor's Office, a legislative agency that serves as the independent auditor for Texas state government, is seeking qualified individuals to intern in a temporary position from June to August 2024. Under the supervision of the Communication and Information Manager, an intern performs work that introduces the student to entry-level graphic design work including designing and producing graphics and web, print, or interactive media materials. Detailed instructions regarding specific duties are provided at the beginning of the assignment. Work is closely supervised and reviewed for accuracy throughout the internship.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

Plans, designs, and develops graphics and web, print, or interactive media materials.Develops and drafts documents with a graphical focus such as brochures, reports, fliers, or newsletters.Coordinates with agency staff to identify audience and overall goal, and align documents with audience needs.Maintains design programs, design system components, and equipment.Maintains archive of electronic production files, artwork, and images.Presents mockups for approval and formally presents final products to agency staff.Performs related duties as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Experience and EducationMust be currently enrolled in one of the following: (1) undergraduate degree program in Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism, English, or related field; OR (2) graduate degree program in Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism, English, or related field.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of graphic design technology and trends and strong visual design skills.Skill in the use of a computer and applicable software.Skill in effective oral and written communication.Skill in effectively working in team environment with positive team interactions.Knowledge of legal issues, such as copyright, privacy, and website accessibility.
