Texas Riding Inc. is Hiring a Summer Camp Counselor Assistant Near Driftwood, TX

Job Summary:

The Lone Star Riding Club in Driftwood, TX is currently hiring for temporary summer camp counselors to supervise and support rotating groups of 4-12 year olds. This role will be involved with groups of campers for various activities during the week including Horseback Riding, Archery, Water Play, Bounce House, and other ranch activities. Camp counselors are role models and make a difference in the lives of youth throughout Central Texas. As a Lone Star Summer Camp Counselor, you'll provide enriching, safe, and memorable experiences for campers. You'll help campers gain a sense of achievement, build relationships, and find their sense of belonging. Most importantly, you'll ensure our campers have the best summer yet!

Shift Information: All of our camp counselor roles are full-time, 40 hours a week with a set schedule.

  • Mondays: 6:30am- 2:30pm
  • Tuesday-Friday: 7:30am- 2:30pm

Orientation for Summer camp begins the week of May 27th. Summer camp runs from May 29th through August 9th.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and meet campers needs
  • Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group
  • Develop opportunities for the group, so that each attendee has a successful and positive experience during camp
  • Keep camp supplies and equipment in good shape, including putting them away when finished with a project
  • Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing, clean-up, and chores, teamwork and hard work
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times. Supervise and engage with campers during activities, meals, and free time.
  • Provide outdoor education experiences for campers, fostering an appreciation for nature and environmental stewardship.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • You maintain good public relations with summer camper’s parents/families
  • You commit yourself to consistently bringing fun, being positive, engaging, and caring.
  • You understand the importance of routine with children and commit to consistently fulfilling your scheduling requirements.
  • You foster a culture of inclusion and belonging. You leverage people's differences as strengths.
  • You are comfortable hiking, facilitating outdoor skills, and being outside with a group of campers during the entire summer day.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • At least one season’s experience working with youth
  • Must be 16 years of age, minimum
  • Emotionally mature, good moral character, good sense of humor, and strong integrity
  • Enjoyment of the outdoors
