JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Director, IS Strategic Portfolio maximizes the value of the company’s technology investments, ensuring end-to-end integration and scalability within an agile framework.

This position is strategic, ensuring alignment of technical solutions to strong business cases and solid return-on-investment across our acute and surgical hospitals. They will manage a cross-functional portfolio that drives operational efficiencies through innovation and value realization. Projects may range from major integrations, pilots, growth, and additional strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate will partner with company leaders to develop comprehensive roadmaps that solve business challenges by leveraging technology as a tool and differentiator in the market. The individual must be able to work across business entities, identify new sources of opportunity, and influence key stakeholders. As governance drives prioritization of investments, the individual is expected to liaise with appropriate parties to ensure the achievement of business objectives. There is a heavy focus in this role on process improvement, business case development, and cross-functional collaboration.

The role will be measured on several competencies including:

  • Ability to quickly disseminate use cases and consolidate into cohesive set of company priorities;
  • Build compelling and accurate business cases that are supported by leadership;
  • Exhibit expertise to work within IT and across hospital operations to identify areas of growth, cost savings, and standardization of products and tools;
  • Drive process improvements with measurable efficiencies including financial impact;
  • Ensure vendor accountability and risk-sharing for new technologies; and
  • Perform effectively in a highly matrixed environment, collaborating and negotiating across teams with a balanced mindset for continuous learning and mentoring others.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS & DIRECT REPORTS:

  • Partner with CMO, CNO, hospital executives, and Operations leadership to drive strategic priorities
  • Collaborate with Operations leadership to evaluate, implement and measure projects producing measurable results to inform company decisions
  • Collaborate with various organization leadership (such as clinical operation, finance, HR, legal) to proactively address opportunities and build synergies across acute, surgical, physician and revenue cycle lines of business
  • Eventually will have direct reports with a range of Analyst to Director level roles

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE:

  • Owns the Oracle Health relationship and roadmap
  • Adjudicates demand coming in from the hospitals
  • Partners with the Client Delivery Leaders (CDL), USPI, and Clinical Informatics (CI) to ensure IT investments are aligned with company direction
  • Identify short- and medium-term ideas to enhance business value
  • Develop business cases, project plans and resource plans for ideas
  • Ensure timely and effective implementation of pilots and programs working with CI and COOs
  • Leverage current technology to improve end to end workflow, process improvement mindset
  • Measure outcomes to prove investment assumptions
  • Strong financial acumen, proven track record of removing waste and repositioning dollars to fund investments

CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE, ATTRIBUTES, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7 years’ experience in healthcare industry is REQUIRED
  • 5 years’ experience in technology leadership role
  • Experience in strategic planning
  • Proven experience in leading large-scale projects in a business analyst role
  • Exposure to different process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, CI, TQM)
  • Familiar with change management methodology and effectively applied
  • Familiar with project management methodology and tools

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree - Required
  • Master’s degree - Preferred

Compensation:

A competitive compensation program will be tailored to the selected candidate. Base salary will be supplemented by a performance bonus and comprehensive, well-rounded benefits program, which includes relocation assistance.

Travel:

Travel is estimated about 25% of the time.
