TELEWORK

Staff who work in the Austin Metro will work in-office for one day, every other week, for a collaboration day as well as on an as-needed basis.

This position is a member of our Air Grant Division.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a part of the division’s Air Grant team, our Systems Analyst III will play a key role in achieving TCEQ’s mission. You would use your skills and experience to:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of new or enhanced section methods, processes, or systems, which includes coordinating with all stakeholders. Coordinate work to ensure the planning, analysis, or design is conducted in a timely manner and to applicable standards, including requirements gathering, configuration management, testing, quality assurance, and technical solutions.
  • Ensure necessary data and information is obtained and maintained in the (TERP) Texas Emissions Reduction Plan database. Evaluate, enter, and retrieve data for one or more grant programs. Conduct or coordinate the analysis, design, and documentation of data, processes, and hardware requirements for assigned projects, utilizing appropriate development tools and techniques.
  • Write the required documentation and report, including standard and ad hoc queries and data report. Train staff on TERP program data management systems. Perform enhancements and maintenance of existing systems to ensure methods, processes, or systems evolve with the business needs of the section.
  • Develop and update web pages and documents. Make web pages and document available on TCEQ internal or external web sites. Ensure materials posted on agency websites conform to agency standards, including accessibility standards.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of report that include study findings, recommendations, and instructions for proposed system implementations; formulates logical descriptions of problems; and devises optimum solutions. Provide technical assistance on program services, including administrative and technical review of grant applications and materials.
Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Three years of full-time experience in systems administration, business process analysis and modeling, application development, or system and application design.

OR

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university, or technical college with a major in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics, or a related field.

OR

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or technical college with a major in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics, or a related field plus one year of the required experience.

OR

Completion of 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics, or a related field plus two years of the required experience.

Career Ladder Progression One year of full-time TCEQ experience as a Systems Analyst II.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience documenting data, processes, or hardware requirements.

Experience using database software.

Experience querying and analyzing technical data.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Systems Analyst III state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Systems Analyst III series.
